The Provincial Government of Nueva Vizcaya commended the contributions of the Nueva Vizcaya Faith-Based Group, Inc. (NVFBGI) in the successful and intensified implementation of the Philippine Population Management Program (PPMP) in the province during its 3rd year anniversary celebration on January 19, 2021 at the Sangguniang Bayan Hall, Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya.
Pastor Roger Angyab, Chairman of the organization expressed his gratitude to the Provincial Population Office (PPO) of Nueva Vizcaya thru Ms. Elvira G. Tongson, Population Program Officer III for engaging the different FBOs in the province in advocating responsible parenthood, family planning and adolescent sexual and reproductive health.
Ms. Tongson recalled that in November 21-22, 2017, 31 religious leaders and members from various faith-based organizations in Nueva Vizcaya were trained on the Learning Package on Parenting Education (LPPED) on Adolescent Health and Development (AHD) cum Training of Trainors on Kalalakihang Tapat sa Responsibilidad at Obligasyon sa Pamilya (KATROPA) to harness their knowledge on the key concepts of the program.
This activity gave birth to the organization of the NVFBGI. From that training, the group came up with an action plan to roll-out their learnings until it became institutionalized up to this year.
With the celebration of their 3rd year anniversary, the group presented their yearly accomplishments and contributions along the Responsible Parenthood and Family Planning (RPFP) and AHD from 2018-2020. Some of the activities conducted by the group were Pre-Marriage Counseling (PMOC), Family Development Sessions (FDS), Teenage Pregnancy Symposium, Film Dissemination, Breaking the Barrier Sessions, and KATROPA.
To continuously provide relevant RPFP and AHD key messages to the Novo Vizcayanos, they group laid out their plans for 2021 which includes the regular conduct of PMOC, reproduction of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials produced during the poster-making contest initiated by PPO NV in 2020. They will also launch another poster-making contest this year to encourage more young individuals to showcase their skills and talents. PPO Nueva Vizcaya expressed gratitude to the members of the organization in ensuring that AHD and RPFP information and services are well provided for amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.#
